The cornerstone of my training style is Positive reinforcement. I use what motivates the dog best and will establish the behaviors and routine that best fit your lifestyle. This could be with clickers, marking commands, hand feeding or simple treats bought at the pet store. Along with marking, shaping and luring, my clients get results that last after the treats are gone and the dog is out of the puppy stage.
I have had experience training everything under the banner of dog training from simple puppy behaviors to dog on dog aggression to training therapy dogs for hospital visits. I have used every tool from treats with clickers, loud noise makers, standard leashes, head halters, prong collars and even canine aversion collars (yep, unfortunately shock collars). Throughout all of it, the one that suits the client and their family 9 times out of 10, is basic positive reinforcement and technique. All the benefit with none of the risks that more dangerous tools can cause. Before you buy anything from the store with the guarantee that it will fix your puppy, talk to an expert first about how to use the tools you already have and make a difference without making the problem worse before you start.
